The destination
The Algarve is an Atlantic coast charter rather than a Mediterranean one: cliffs, sea caves and beaches that are often easiest to reach by boat. From Vilamoura or Lagos you can work west past Albufeira towards Ponta da Piedade and the Benagil cave area, combining swimming stops with evenings in marina towns. Summer is busy ashore; on the water the day still tends to revolve around short coastal legs rather than long passages. Faro airport is close to the main marinas, and flights from the UK are typically under three hours, which makes long weekends and week-long trips practical. It works well for families, golf groups who want time afloat, and guests who prefer sunshine without the peak-season density of the Côte d'Azur.
