The destination
For Greek Islands yacht charter with Onyx, the working base is Corfu in the Ionian Islands. From there, the natural week runs through nearby Paxos and Antipaxos: short crossings, sheltered swimming bays, and harbour stops that suit mixed groups and families without forcing long open-water days. Further south, Lefkada, Kefalonia and Ithaca open up a wider Ionian itinerary if you have the time and want more variety between green islands and quieter overnight berths. The Cyclades are a different Greek cruising area altogether - more exposure, often stronger summer meltemi, and a different rhythm around islands such as Mykonos and the smaller stops beyond. Our Greek yachts are based in Corfu, so Ionian routes are what we plan first; Cyclades charters are discussed as a separate brief rather than as an extension of a Corfu week. May to October is the usual season, with June to September the busiest.

Begin your Greek island escape in Corfu, where Venetian architecture, charming cobbled streets and beautiful waterfront restaurants create an unforgettable first impression. Explore the UNESCO-listed Old Town before stepping aboard your yacht and cruising south along the island's lush coastline. With secluded bays, crystal-clear water and views across to the Greek mainland, it's a wonderful introduction to the Ionian.

Discover the enchanting island of Paxos, known for its turquoise waters, olive-covered hills and wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Drop anchor in a sheltered bay for a morning swim before heading into Gaios, where colourful waterfront tavernas line the picturesque harbour. Nearby Antipaxos is particularly special, with its brilliant blue water and white sandy beaches offering some of the finest swimming in the Ionian.

Cruise south towards Lefkada, an island celebrated for its dramatic white cliffs, beautiful beaches and spectacular blue water. Discover secluded coves along the coastline before making your way towards Vassiliki, a laid-back harbour village surrounded by green hills. Spend the afternoon swimming, exploring ashore or simply enjoying the scenery from the yacht.

Arrive in Fiskardo, one of the Ionian's most charming harbour villages, where pastel-coloured Venetian buildings overlook a waterfront filled with yachts and traditional fishing boats. Enjoy a long lunch at a waterside taverna, wander through the village's little shops or explore the beautiful bays along Kefalonia's northern coastline. With its relaxed sophistication and welcoming atmosphere, Fiskardo is a favourite stop on any Ionian charter.

Continue across the water to Ithaca, a peaceful island steeped in Greek mythology and natural beauty. Cruise into the magnificent sheltered gulf of Vathy, where traditional houses and waterfront tavernas surround the harbour. Spend the day discovering quiet coves, swimming in clear water and enjoying the island's unhurried pace of life. Far removed from the busier Mediterranean hotspots, Ithaca captures the simple pleasure of exploring Greece by private yacht.
