Mallorca
The largest of Spain's Balearic Islands.
The destination
Mallorca is the usual starting point for a Balearic yacht charter. From Palma you can reach the east-coast calas in a day, work the Tramuntana shoreline to the north, or run across to Ibiza and on to Formentera if the itinerary allows. Distances between key stops are generally short, which suits families and first-time charterers; sailors still get usable wind in season. Marina infrastructure is strong - berths, provisioning and crew support are straightforward compared with less developed coasts. July and August are the busiest months in harbour; May, June and September usually give warmer water with more room to move. A week based on Mallorca is the standard pattern; adding Ibiza or Formentera needs a clearer plan and, often, a faster boat or an extra day.
