The destination
Italy is usually chartered as distinct coasts rather than one continuous cruise. The Amalfi Coast and Capri favour shorter hops between cliff towns and island stops, with tender access often mattering as much as the overnight berth. Sardinia's Costa Smeralda and the La Maddalena archipelago are a different proposition: granite shoreline, clear water and protected anchorages, typically planned as their own week. Combining Amalfi and Sardinia in one trip is possible, but it needs time and a realistic transfer plan; a week on one coast, or a fortnight if you want both, is the more honest brief. Peak summer is busy in the obvious harbours; shoulder months give more flexibility on berths. We match the yacht to the coastline - what works off Capri is not always what you want in the Maddalena.

Begin your Italian escape in Sorrento, perched high above the Bay of Naples with magnificent views towards Mount Vesuvius. Explore the town's charming streets, lively piazzas and traditional restaurants before stepping aboard your yacht. Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the Sorrentine Peninsula, passing dramatic cliffs, hidden coves and beautiful waterfront villas as you make your way towards the Amalfi Coast.

Few arrivals are as memorable as approaching Positano from the sea. Pastel-coloured houses tumble down the cliffs towards the beach, creating one of the Mediterranean's most recognisable views. Take the tender ashore to explore the village's winding streets, independent shops and beautiful terraces. Enjoy a long Italian lunch overlooking the water at a restaurant such as La Sponda, or return to the yacht for a relaxed afternoon swimming beneath the spectacular coastline.

Continue along the breathtaking Amalfi Coast, passing dramatic headlands, colourful fishing villages and secluded bays accessible by boat. Arrive in the historic town of Amalfi, where narrow streets lead from the waterfront to the magnificent cathedral and bustling piazza. Explore the town, enjoy a traditional Italian lunch or venture inland to discover Ravello, renowned for its beautiful gardens and extraordinary views over the coastline.

Cruise across to Capri, an island synonymous with Italian elegance and spectacular natural beauty. Circle the famous Faraglioni rock formations, discover hidden grottoes and swim in the island's remarkably clear waters. Head ashore to explore the stylish shops and cafés around the Piazzetta, or enjoy lunch at one of Capri's celebrated restaurants. As the day draws to a close, the island's extraordinary scenery provides a memorable backdrop for an evening aboard.

Discover a quieter, greener side of the Bay of Naples on the beautiful island of Ischia. Known for its natural thermal springs, lush gardens and charming coastal villages, Ischia offers a wonderful contrast to the glamour of Capri. Spend the day exploring secluded bays, visiting the historic Aragonese Castle or relaxing at one of the island's renowned thermal spas. Finish with a leisurely waterfront dinner, enjoying the island's excellent local seafood and wines.
